24-25 Girls Wrestling Team

Merrill’s Wrestling program extends from kindergarten through the 12th grade. High School wrestling is a 9-12 program, where there is in general, a freshman team, a future varsity team (Junior Varsity) and a varsity team. There are no experience requirements or it is “too late to join” dates. There are no student athletes that get “cut” from the team and there are no limits to the number of athletes that can participate. Regardless of skill level, most wrestlers will get at least 20 matches during the season.

The season runs from mid November to the first week in March. Practices are held in the wresting room after school, from approximately 3:20 – 5:20. The Merrill Wrestling Team has won 3 Team State Championships – 1970, 1992, & 1993, and has 2 - Team State Runner-up finishes in 1983, 2005, & 2014. Merrill Wrestling is working to be Team State Champions again – maybe you will be a part of the next Team State Championship.
